Inspired by the powerful organizing and social justice focus of the Chicago Teachers’ Union, the NCAE Organize 2020 Caucus was founded in 2013 to bring similar energy to North Carolina’s fight for public education.
The heart of NCAE are the locals that we serve. Without the everyday, on-the-ground work that these leaders take on, NCAE could not be the force it has grown to be. We must grow strong locals to build power.
Tamika Walker Kelly, NCAE Region 6 Director
We want a professional pay scale that values veteran educators. We want resources and supplies and safe infrastructure for our students. They should have small class sizes and a curriculum that affirms their humanity. They should have health care and safe housing. They should have counselors, nurses, and social workers. They should have clean air and water. They should have everything that they need and deserve.
